Sollecito Loves Amanda Knox (NOT)

Love, love springs eternal. Today in Oggi (Today), Raffaele Sollecito declares he can't wait to visit his girlfriend, Amanda Knox. He is in Italy and she, in Seattle USA. This couple, just acquitted of murder convictions in the death of Meredith Kercher, seemingly are still aflame. Love, love, love...

According to Mr. Sollecito, he has an invitation from Ms. Knox to visit her. Communicating daily, the couple appear to have the heat to keep going. All things considered... incredible, indeed. As a love story, ah, there's a book and a movie in the offing.

Here's a taste from Sollecito's Oggi interview:

"Certainly I will go and see Amanda in Seattle. She's invited me and I accepted with joy," Mr Sollecito, from Bari in the far south of Italy, told the latest edition of Oggi (Today) magazine.
"I could go at any moment. I want to see her again, to talk to her, to look her in the eyes.
"We telephone and write to each other every day, we need each other both to try to understand what happened and to look ahead, towards a future that seemed broken forever but which we can now rebuild."
"We have so many things to say to each other after spending four years in a hellish whirl which crushed us and caused us indescribable suffering and nearly ruined our lives,"

On a day when Italy is about to go belly up with its debt load and the European Union may dissolve, a bit of uplifting news from the Continent is appreciated. Love, love, love...

E cosi va... Amore (NON)

Added November 6, 2011

Well NO!!! No love, as Mr. Sollecito puts in in an interview with Italian television and reported in The Daily Mail... http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2011/11/amanda-knoxs-ex-says-cruel-injustice-crushed-their-love/

...said the pair’s romantic relationship is over because of the “cruel injustice” they suffered.

“Our love was like a seed that was not allowed to grow because it was brutally stamped on. We were both victims of a cruel injustice and our relationship was overcome,”

He wished Knox the best for the future, and said he had “affection” for her.

Raffaele Sollecito confirmed that Knox had invited him to visit her in Seattle, but said he would not be accepting the offer anytime soon.

“We were both victims of a cruel injustice and our relationship was overcome by this tragedy. Our lives are linked by circumstances but now they are very different,”

A pity really. One hopes always that love can conquer all. But in reality suck a wishful notion is more of a pipe dream. Sad.
