Oh Amy, A Losing Game

Don't have much to say other than "So Sorry".  Amy Winehouse is dead. 27 and dead. Anybody could see it coming. Addictions and demons are killers.

So she's gone. Her music will live on. Indeed she was talent of major proportion. She never reached the acme of her potential, but then again... She did a lot better than most mortals.

Is it better to live like a comet or like a fizzling candle? Surely Amy was not blown out by a mere geriatric breeze of an illness. She died like she lived. Hard to take, so hard indeed.

The cause of her death was determined to be acute alcohol poisoning. This determination was released on October 26, 2011. Drugs had no role in her immediate death. She had a blood alcohol level of 0.4%. As a reference, drunk is defined as 0.08% in most jurisdictions. Two large and one small empty vodka bottles were found in her room...

In 2008, Winehouse posed naked for Britin's Easy Living to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Amy was plain hot in a dress. Don't know why, don't know how, but she was a dress-horse. A few images...

A "Before" Image

Listening to her music moves me. I doubt that I am alone. Never judge an artist by the way she lives, but by the life of her art. Nobody ever said that as far as I know...

RIP

Amy Winehouse

So here's a song by Cat Power, a fave for sure. It's called The Greatest. Here's to you Amy!!!

Once I wanted to be the greatest
No wind or waterfall could STALL me
And then came the rush of the flood
The stars at night turned DEEP to dust

Melt me down
into big black armour
Leave no trace
Of grace
Just in your honor
Lower me down
TO CULPRIT SOUTH
Make 'EM WASH A SPACE IN TOWN
FOR THE LEAD
AND THE DREGS OF MY BED
I'VE BEEN SLEEPING
Lower me down
PIN ME IN
Secure the grounds
For the later parade

Once I wanted to be the greatest
TWO FISTS OF SOLID ROCK
WITH BRAINS THAT COULD EXPLAIN
Any feeling
Lower me down
PIN ME IN
Secure the grounds
FOR THE LEAD
AND THE DREGS OF MY BED
I'VE BEEN SLEEPING
For the later parade

Once I wanted to be the greatest
No wind or water fall could STALL me
And then came the rush of the flood
The stars at night turned DEEP to dust

Here is a pre-drug clip. Amy had so much talent. With her passing, we all lose...

Last interview... Ends with "I told you I was troubled" lyric.

Estate notes...

Amid the sad story of Amy Winehouse's death came one positive note of inspiration for her heartbroken fans: The troubled singer left her affairs in remarkable order.  ....Winehouse had an estate plan that appears to leave her sizable assets just where she wanted them.

... Winehouse's assets, estimated at around $16.4 million, were at risk for going to her ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, who is currently in prison, since the English legal system tends to favor ex-spouses. But Winehouse (and her lawyers) avoided that problem by writing a new will that directs her money to her parents and brother instead. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Amy-Winehouses-Financial-usnews-182882230.html;_ylt=Aue9VvlQb8NY__H6bi_VW2y7YWsA;_ylu=X3oDMTFiOG9wYWFpBHBvcwMxMARzZWMDc3BlY2lhbEZlYXR1cmVzBHNsawNhbXl3aW5laG91c2U-?x=0
